CAS agencies need the ability to search for previous contacts with clients. This allows the agency worker to determine patterns of behaviour and past interactions with this agency and any other agencies. This historical view of client information helps workers determine the best future course for the client.

Searching Features In Matrix

Within Matrix application, there are three ways to search, basic, advanced and searching with mobile device. The worker can set the type of searching that they prefer on the individual profile. After searching, the worker can dig deeper into the results to see more information on people, families, cases and calls.

Basic Searching

The basic search screen is similar to a Google search, meaning the worker types the search criteria and clicks search. This search is also used for workers that have low bandwidth network connections.

The basic search takes into account the following criteria automatically when the user searches:

  • Person Last Name
  • Person’s First Name
  • File Name
  • File Number
  • Street Address
  • Phone Number
  • Aliases

The basic search returns a grouping of all families and people that match the search results. Files that are locked will show up with a lock symbol and only workers with the correct permissions will be allowed to access the file.

Advanced Searching

The worker indicates what they are looking for specifically (e.g. a person, a family, a case, call log, etc..), then selects what type of information is being searched on (e.g. last name, first name, date of birth, SIN, address, etc..) and clicks search. The advanced search returns all information related to the search criteria. What this means is that if a worker searches on a person, the search will show all families that the person has been associated with, all cases that the person has been involved in, all calls related to that person, and all groups that the person has attended. Locked files will show up as locked with limited information appearing.

Using the person search, Matrix allows for searching on:

  • File Number
  • File Name
  • Last Name
  • Last Name Soundex
  • First Name
  • Birth Date
  • S.I.N.
  • Street Address
  • City
  • Phone Number

Last Name, First Name (includes aliases and maiden names by default).

Mobile Searching

Matrix application supports workers in the field searching Matrix from a handheld device. It is designed for low bandwidth and quick results. The mobile search has all of the functionality of the basic search and takes into account the following criteria automatically:

  • Person Last Name
  • Person’s First Name
  • File Name
  • File Number
  • Street Address
  • Phone Number
  • Aliases
